We are responding to the changing needs of our Subscribers and Beneficiaries by proposing important changes to the Heritage Plans to better our offerings to you, our clients!

Over the last several years we have been observing a developing trend in the needs of our customers, requiring more flexibility and greater access to funds for post-secondary education. The proposal of changes to the Heritage Plans is our response to these ever-evolving needs. We strongly believe that these changes will allow for greater accessibility to educational assistance payments (“EAP”) and, overall, a better value for the Subscribers and Beneficiaries.

AFTER CAREFUL CONSIDERATION OF THE PROPOSED PLAN CHANGES CONTEMPLATED FOR THE PLANS, THE HERITAGE EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION BOARD OF DIRECTORS HAS APPROVED THE PROPOSED PLAN CHANGES. CONSEQUENTLY, THE BOARD RECOMMENDS THAT SUBSCRIBERS VOTE IN FAVOUR OF THE RESOLUTION.

What changes are being proposed?

We are seeking the approval of Subscribers of the Heritage Plans on the following proposed changes:

1. Reduction of EAP qualification requirements to the minimums specified by the Income Tax Act (Canada),
2. Expansion of investment policy,
3. Changing the rules and procedures regarding the return of Sales Charges (formerly referred to as Membership Fees), and
4. Making defaulted and inactive Plans eligible for benefits offered by the Self-Determined Option.

Why is Heritage proposing these changes?

Simply put, we are proposing these changes to better the Heritage Plans. If approved by Subscribers, they will allow us to offer a greater range of benefits for our Subscribers and Beneficiaries by providing greater program choices, easier EAP qualifications and enabling more Subscribers and Beneficiaries to access funds for post-secondary education.
