Alberta Centennial Education Savings Plan Grant
The Alberta Centennial Education Savings Plan† (ACES) Grant is provided by the Alberta government for any child born to or adopted by residents of Alberta in 2005 or later.
The grant starts with a one-time initial contribution of $500 to an eligible child's RESP. The government provides three subsequent grants of $100 to an eligible child's RESP for children attending school in Alberta at ages 8, 11 and 14. To receive the subsequent grants, a minimum matching contribution of $100 must be made to an RESP in the year prior. In total, $800 in grant money is available per eligible child.

To apply for the initial $500 ACES Plan Grant:
- Register the birth or adoption of the child.
- Apply for a birth certificate (at any Alberta registries outlet).
- Apply for a Social Insurance Number (SIN) for your child (at any Canada/Alberta Service Centre). You can download the SIN application form here.
- Open a Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP) with an RESP provider, such as Heritage Education Funds.

To apply for the subsequent $100 ACES Grants
If you and your child are eligible, all you need to do to get the subsequent $100 ACES grants is:
- Following the guidelines above and open up a Plan, if you do not already have one.
