Carrie was chosen for her capacity to understand and recognize the distinctive needs of the students in her classroom, located on the edge of the Edmonton downtown core. She uses occupational therapy, cognitive and academic interventions, and speech langauge services to assist her students. Her high energy, positive attitude and research based strategies inspire her students by increasing their confidence in themselves and their learning abilities.

John was chosen for his dedication to instill in his young Kindergarten students a love for reading and learning, while always providing a safe and fun atmosphere. With over 25 years of experience in teaching, he always goes the extra mile when it comes to his students. He continously communicates to each child that he or she has the potential for greatness. His creative teaching methods have inspired community members and parents to take an active role in providing children with the skills they need to succeed.

Lisa was chosen for making a difference everyday in the lives of her students. She is the kind of teacher, who gets on her knees to see into her students' eyes. She has been teaching for fifteen years and she still approaches each day and class with enthusiasm. She is dedicated to her students and takes the time to attend their extracurriculat activities; such as ballet, music recitals and sports events. Under her leadership, The Mighty Sprouts Team composed of her students presented a project on global awareness to the Provincial Department of Education.
