- The average cost of post-secondary education has increased over the past 10 years, and the trend is expected to continue. It is estimated that the cost of a 4-year university education could exceed $122,00011 in 2033.
- To assist with funding post-secondary education, the Government of Canada provides incentives to invest for a child's education through:
- The Canada Education Savings Grant2 ("CESG") program with up to $7,200 in lifetime maximum.
- The Canada Learning Bond2 ("CLB") program with up to $2,000 per qualifying beneficiary.
- The governments of Quebec and Saskatchewan offer provincial support with the Quebec Education Savings Incentive2 ("QESI") and Saskatchewan Advantage Grant for Education Savings2 ("SAGES").
- Canada Revenue Agency ("CRA") allows a tax shelter on savings of up to $50,000 per child with no annual limit.
